Area
Cookies & local storage
Area keeps the public experience simple: no marketing cookies, sign-in optional and app-only.

1. Our approach
Area does not use advertising cookies or analytics consent banners on the website. We do not ask you to accept tracking to browse listings. The mobile app uses privacy-conscious product analytics, described in our Privacy Policy.
2. Local storage (not a cookie)
When you favorite a listing on the website, Area saves the listing ID in your browser's local storage (area:favorites). This is stored on your device only and lets your favorites persist between visits. The mobile app similarly keeps favorites, unpublished listing drafts, and app preferences (like your accepted Terms version) on your device.
- Purpose: remember listings you saved, drafts in progress, and app preferences
- Duration: until you remove them or clear site/app data
- Shared with us: no — this data is not submitted as part of normal use
3. Strictly necessary cookies
Our hosting platform may set short-lived technical cookies required to deliver the site securely and reliably (for example load balancing or abuse protection). We do not use these to profile visitors.
4. What we do not use
- Advertising or retargeting cookies
- Social media tracking pixels on the public feed
- Third-party analytics cookies that identify you across sites
- Authentication cookies on the website (accounts are app-only)
If you sign in inside the app, secure session storage on your device keeps you signed in between visits. It is used only for authentication, never for advertising.
5. Third-party content
Map previews, listing photos, and outbound links may cause your browser to contact other domains. Those services may use their own cookies when you interact with them directly. Area does not control third-party cookie behavior.
6. Managing storage
You can delete favorites from within Area, clear local storage and cookies in your browser settings, or clear the app's local data in your device settings. Instructions vary by browser and device.
